Uncharted Movie Loses Its Director

Uncharted: Drake's FortuneDavid O. Russell has stepped down as the director of the Uncharted movie adaptation, which likely means that Mark Wahlberg is out as Drake.

This is probably for the best, since Russell is definitely of the I don't really care much about the original story school of adaptation.

You might remember his conception of the Drake family—it caused a bit of an uproar earlier this year:
...a crime family that metes out justice in the world of art and antiquities. If you’re the head of a museum, or head of state, you’ve got to deal with them, and they’re badass. They’re like the Sopranos in some ways, but they have great taste, and they have a sense of justice.

Then again, Russell has directed some good films, so who knows what might have been. It might have been a good film, but it probably wouldn't have actually been an adaptation.

Hollywood's track record in this area is not great.
